Shop products

The product editing page is divided into six sections:

Product details

These settings specify the basic product details:

Product code
The product code used in the import/export feature.
Name
The product name.
Summary
The product summary. This short summary is shown with the details alongside the product images.
Description
The product description. This longer description is shown below the other product details.
Main image
An image of the product. This will be shown on category pages as well as on the product page.
Image 2 to Image 8
Additional images of the product. These will only be shown on the product page.
Units (singular), Units (plual)
Product units, which are displayed whenever a quantity of the product is shown. For example, a product could have units of boxes, in which case quantities of 1 and 2 would be shown as 1 box and 2 boxes respectively.

Search engine optimisation

These settings affect how product pages appear in search engines:

SEO title
The title for search engine optimisation purposes. See the SEO metadata help page for advice on creating good titles.
SEO description
The description for search engine optimisation purposes. See the SEO metadata help page for advice on creating good descriptions.

Downloads

These settings associate files with the product:

After purchase
A file that can be downloaded after the product has been purchased. A link to download the file will be included in the customer’s order confirmation e-mail and on the customer’s order history page.

Availability

These settings control whether the product is available:

Status
Set to Available to let customers purchase the product. Set to Not available to let customers see the product but not purchase it — the Add to basket button will be replaced with a notice explaining that the product is not available. Set to Not shown to hide the product entirely — this is useful for seasonal products which are only available at certain times of year.
Stock control
Whether stock control is enabled.

If stock control is enabled, two other settings are shown:

Notification level
The stock level at which the shop will notify you of low stock.
Current stock
The current stock level for the product. If some variants have separate stock levels then a Save product and edit stock button will be shown instead; clicking the button will take you to a page to edit stock levels for the product.

Price and weight

These settings specify the price and delivery weight of the product:

Tax
Which tax applies to the product.
Price
The per-item price of the product. Prices are entered as they will be displayed — including or excluding tax depending on the option chosen in the basket and checkout configuration.
Price breaks
Prices that apply when purchasing larger quantities of the product. Click Add price break to add a price break, and then specify the per-unit price and the quantity from which that price applies.
Previous price
If the Show previous price checkbox is checked, you can enter a previous price for the product. The previous price will be shown, crossed out, before the current price on category and product pages.
Delivery weight
The weight used for calculating delivery rates. This value is not shown to customers and can be in any units you wish. If you do not have delivery rates based on weight, you should leave this field blank.

Variants

These settings specify which variants apply to the product. To enable a variant group, check the corresponding checkbox.

For a variant group of type list, additional settings are shown once the group is enabled. If stock control is enabled for the product, a second checkbox can be used to set whether the variants in the group have separate stock levels. Click Add variant to add variants within the group. For each variant you can specify a price, which adjusts the per-item price of the product, and a weight, which adjusts the per-item weight of the product. Variant prices or weights may be negative to reduce the product price or weight.

Related products

This setting lets you choose products to show in a related products section on this product’s page. Click Add related product to add related products.

Categories

This setting specifies which categories contain the product. A product may appear in multiple categories, which is useful if there are different ways people might think of categorising it — for example, if you have categories for lounge and bedroom furniture, a bookcase should probably feature in both. Click Add category to add the product to additional categories.
